While we are on the body-brain subject
Did you know that eye contact causes mirror neurons to fire even in a conflict? (Mirror neurons are what make us yawn when we see someone else do it, or tear up when we are with someone experiencing grief.)
We tend to stop having eye contact when a conversation or experience becomes stressful, and this powerful little support mechanism of connection goes away. (Because before the tiger goes in for the kill, empathy isn’t called for, as we are not tigers it’s a great idea to train ourselves to return to eye contact to soften the conflict naturally).
Let’s meet eye to eye, and stop the rebounds of eye for eye!
